Akira Endo and Robert Hranitzky created the new Wacom Intuos 4 promotion trailer
for the worldwide launch of the product with the goal to present the tablet and its new functions as well as with advertising-aesthetical requirements in mind. The components, in regards to the advertisement content of the product and the Trailer as film should be informative and at the same time keep a sense of aesthetics.
Robert Hranitzky worked out a conception and a storyboard and Akira Endo developed mainly the 3D realisation of the tablet which should be the main focal point. By means of a model provided by the manufacturer they had the possibility to
tryout and examine directly the configuration, colors and functions of the product during their brainstorming, in order to zero in on the right perspectives. Thus, this
configuration and functionality of the Wacom Intuos 4 became the main reference
point for the organization of the Trailer. It's mainly the tablet in 3D and in its whole
confiugration which you see in the trailer, the tablet under different light reflections,
with its OLED displays and functions. The 3D scenes of the details of the product
were realised with Cinema 4DR11. But initially, the trailer is introduced by three
artworks showing the most important creative work facilities of the Wacom Intuos
4: illustration, image editing and 3D. The General, seen at the beginning originates
from Rafal Wojtunik's short film "Fallen Art" (Platiges Images), the following futuristic automobile was designed by Michael Jelinek and the alien at the end is a creation of Endo and Hranitzky. The colors of the trailer are similiar to those of the tablet, information about the tablet features are firstly included in a pixelized scripture which alludes to the sytle of the OLED displays, secondly by line drawings in 2D and 3D of a drawn hand with different pen points. The VFX team mainly used the following applications: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS4, After Effects as well as Cinema 4D, Rhino, 3ds Max and ZBrush.
